strategic Kings Ferry between Stony
Point and Verplanck's Point, which
George Washington's army used to cross
the Hudson on its march to Yorktown,
Virginia, in 1781.
The Verplanck Fire Department is a
volunteer fire department located in
Westchester County, NY. The Verplanck
Fire Department protects the mostly
residential hamlet of Verplanck within
the Town of Cortlandt. In addition to
this residential area, the Verplanck
Fire District includes several
commercial sites including the Indian
Point nuclear power station located in
the neighboring town of Buchanan.
